long way to go

As you can see from the pictures all of the portables are on site. They don’t look real pretty, but I assure you that in the next few months you see a much different picture.  We are preparing a site plan that includes setting the buildings at ground level, parking, sidewalks, landscaping, playground equipment, shades, some grass, and hopefully a prayer type area, as well as painting the buildings to match the surrounding area.  I promise it will look much different than it does today.

lots of stuff happening

As of today almost all of the 28 modular buildings are on our site. We are meeting with our architect this week to begin working on our site plan.  We are still a long, long, way from getting the keys to building, but we are are making some real progress.

first buildings have arrived

The first of 28 units have started to arrive on the property.  They will remain unattached and unfinished until all of the permitting is complete with the city.  We hope to have them set some time in late September, early October.

All 28 buildings should be on site by the end of May.

exciting news!

COMMUNITY OF HOPE LAUNCHES CREATIVE PLANS FOR NEW SITE

Maricopa, AZ

May 12, 2009

The Community of Hope Church is rapidly moving into a vision for their 5 acre site at the corner of Porter and Adams Road in Maricopa.  The vision is to develop the site so that it serves the greater Maricopa community 7 days a week. The objective is to be actively using this site by the end of 2009.

The first step in this vision is to lease a portion of the property to Leading Edge Academy.  One condition of the lease is that the Community of Hope will be able to use the modular building for its Sunday services.  Other ways to use the site with a community focus will be evaluated.  Leading Edge’s intent is to open their school to Maricopa residents in the future.

With so many needs in the community, it is Community of Hope Church’s desire to provide support in areas not currently served by other groups. Programs are being planned for children activities, clubs, and classes. Additional space is being planned for other non-profit organizations to meet and serve community needs.  Community has always been a key value of this church, an outward focused church.  Community of Hope has served in many ways throughout the community since even before its inception in September 2005 holding the first Movies in the Park, Living Nativity, and Easter Eggstravaganza.  Community of Hope was also the catalyst for F.O.R. Maricopa Food Bank.

saturday

We are set to do a clean up on Saturday morning, May 24th.  Please bring your hoes, rakes, and power weed eaters.  We will begin at 7:00 am and go a couple of hours.

See you then.

clean up day

I would like to get a group of able bodies together next Saturday morning May 25th to spend a few hours cleaning.  What we need to do is to knock down the weeds along the sidewalks, and clean up the tumble weeks that are along the outside.  If you can make it please let me know.  I would like to start at 7:00 am to avoid the heat, and will get a roll off dumpster if we get enough help.  I know its Memorial Day weekend, but I am hoping that most people are staying home.  Let me know if you can help.  Bring your hoes, your power weed-eaters, and gloves.
